While it is mainly used to reduce water retention in the body and control high blood pressure, it may also be used to decrease the risk of stroke in the human body.
Take Hyzaar exactly as directed by your doctor. It may be taken with or without food. Try to take it at the same time each day so that it is easier to remember and maintain a routine while using Hyzaar.
Take the forgotten dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the one you missed and go back to your regular schedule.
Store in a tightly closed container and protect from light and heat.
Like most medications, an overdose of Hyzaar can have serious consequences. Some of the typical symptoms include extremely low blood pressure and abnormally rapid or slow heartbeat. If you suspect an overdose, then seek medical attention immediately.
Discuss your medical condition in detail with your doctor before you start taking Hyzaar. Maintain caution while using the drug if you have liver or kidney disease, diabetes, gout, or lupus erythematosus. Do not consume alcohol with the drug if it causes light headedness or giddiness in you.

back pain; diarrhea; dizziness; lightheadedness, especially when sitting up or standing; nausea; numbness or tingling of the skin; tiredness.
Seek medical attention right away if any of these severe side effects occur:
severe allergic reactions (rash; hives; itching; difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue); chest pain; confusion; decrease in sexual ability; decreased urination; depression; drowsiness; fainting; fast or irregular heartbeat; fever, chills, or persistent sore throat; hoarseness; muscle pain, tenderness, or cramps; red, swollen, blistered, or peeling skin; restlessness; seizures; severe or persistent dry mouth; shortness of breath; swelling of the arms or legs; unusual bruising or bleeding; unusual thirst; unusual tiredness or weakness; vomiting; yellowing of the skin or eyes.
Hyzaar is to be used only by the patient for whom it is prescribed. Do not share it with other people.
